Livestock search for food on the barren pastures of Ethiopia. The land is parched from lack of rain and stripped bare by cattle escaping the drought in neighbouring Kenya and Somalia.
The Horn of Africa is a region in crisis.
Children are hungry and so are their parents. They are among an estimated eight million people affected by the drought sweeping one of the most vulnerable corners of the world.

At the beginning of 2006 UNICEF appealed for 16 million dollars to fund life saving emergency relief - clean water, nutrition support and measles immunization.
There are one and a half million children under the age of five in the Horn of Africa who are particularly vulnerable to under nutrition. With early intervention, UNICEF hopes to give all children and women affected by the drought a better chance of survival.
