"We think that recycling materials would conserve large amounts of energy and this should be promoted. Another issue that we feel needs to be addressed is the Kyoto Protocol. We think this needs to be re-focused on the diversification of energy resources. We also support nuclear power."

"It overwhelmed me to see all of these presidents around the table and being able to shake their hand, one by one, and telling them your name. But during the discussions, I was disappointed by the answers of most of the presidents because they didn't really seem to be worried about the problems. I think Jacques Chirac said correctly - he said, We shouldn't be so optimistic. There are people dying right now and we've got to solve these problems."

The children of the Junior 8 finished a week of intense meetings by making their case to G8 leaders about what needs to be done to make the world a better place for children.
Meeting in St. Petersburg, Russia, eight of the 64 Junior 8 delegates sat down with G8 leaders and laid out their ideas.
SOUNDBITE: (English): Sophie Harrison, UK J8 delegate:

World leaders said they were impressed with the Junior 8 team.

Their meeting stretched on for more than 40 minutes. Each of the eight children spoke, along with each of the G8 leaders. Afterwards, the children held a news conference.

With a strong spotlight shown on children's issues in Russia, there's already talk underway of the next Junior 8 Youth Forum... to be held in Germany next summer.
