“This is part of bringing the Roadmap to the grassroots, to the people, through the civil society organizations. The Roadmap’s feature is inclusivity, which started with bringing in the principal stakeholders who are the Government, Parliament, and the regional entities, but now it is extending to include the whole variety of civil society in the implementation of the Roadmap.”

Months of drought and continued fighting have brought on a humanitarian crisis that continues to displace hundreds of thousands of people in Somalia.
Trucks and carts pilled up with belongings speak of people on the move, taking whatever they can with them.
Abduallahi Ali says he was forced to flee Elasha, one of the largest IDP site in the country to another makeshift camp.

Along with those arriving in the city in search of food and water, in October over 8,000 people have been displaced by conflict within Mogadishu itself.

Meanwhile a meeting of civil society representatives in Mogadishu concluded with the plenary expressing full support for the Roadmap on ending the transitional government.
The United Nations envoy for Somalia emphasized the importance of inclusivity in the Roadmap adopted in September, setting out a series of tasks to be completed ahead of concluding the country’s political transition process.

The Roadmap spells out priority measures to be implemented before the current transitional governing arrangements end next August, in the areas of security, the drafting of a new constitution, reconciliation and laying the foundation for good governance.
