The International Narcotics Control Board (INCB) will be launching their New 2012 report tomorrow (5 March) at its headquarters in Vienna.

The INCB is calling for the renewal of the spirit of shared responsibility in preventing
the suffering caused by inadequate access to medicines, drug abuse, drug trafficking and illicit drug production.

INCB President Raymondo Yans said in an interview prior to the launch of the report that shared responsibility was “both a very ancient and very modern concept”, he added that “In drug control it means that states have taken an engagement in order to ensure the availability of controlled medicines for the people who need it. And on the other hand to prevent access to illicit use of medicines and INCB calls for a renewal of shared responsibility and drug control”.

General Ahmed Kamal Eldin Samak, a member sof the board Member said in an interview that shared responsibility began with implementing the international agreements among countries, and he added that “it ends with the values we should implement to stop the drugs from reaching the youth and the adolescents.”
