"The "draft resolution" is no more than an instrument that serves the political purposes of the hostile forces in their attempt to discredit the image of the DPRK and to change the socialist system chosen and developed by your people. The "draft resolution" is also a faked document full of political invectives with serious distortions, fabrications and accusations about the human rights situation of the DPRK. As we have stated time and again, those human rights abuses have totally nothing to do with the DPRK."

"The people of DPRK are now happy with pride and honour that they have one of the best systems for promotion and protection of human rights in the world. No logic or explanation makes sense to those who refuse to listen to the truth and face the reality as it stands. If the hostile forces continue to turn their back on the prevailing reality of the DPRK, and commit yet another hostile act of establishing such a body of political ploy on the so-called "inquiry mechanism", they should be entirely held accountable for all serious consequences to be incurred."

“For too long the population of the country has been subjected to widespread and systematic human rights violations and abuses. For too long, the government of the DPRK has persistently refused to cooperate with the Human Rights Council and the Special Rapporteur.”

North Korea has condemned a decision to set up a United Nations investigation into its alleged human rights abuses.
Delegates at the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva today adopted a draft resolution, without a vote, to set up a commission of inquiry to examine ‘grave, widespread and systematic’ violations of human rights in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.
North Korea's Ambassador So Se Pyong told the Council that "The "draft resolution" is no more than an instrument that serves the political purposes of the hostile forces in their attempt to discredit the image of the DPRK."
He said that the people of DPRK were “happy with pride and honour that they have one of the best systems for promotion and protection of human rights in the world”. And he added that “If the hostile forces continue to turn their back on the prevailing reality of the DPRK, and commit yet another hostile act of establishing such a body of political ploy on the so-called "inquiry mechanism", they should be entirely held accountable for all serious consequences to be incurred."
Meanwhile Irish Ambassador Gerard Corr, speaking on behalf of the European Union, one of the sponsors of the resolution, said that “For too long the population of the country has been subjected to widespread and systematic human rights violations and abuses. For too long, the government of the DPRK has persistently refused to cooperate with the Human Rights Council and the Special Rapporteur.”
The U.N. investigation follows a report by an independent expert, Indonesian lawyer Marzuki Darusman, identifying human rights violations including kidnapping of foreign nationals, torture, and a gulag system thought to hold up to 200,000 prisoners.
