The voting concerned the Letter dated 3 April 2024 from the Secretary-General addressed to the President of the Security Council (S/2024/286) regarding the admission of Palestine as a UN member state. The resolution received 12 votes in favour, 1 against (United States), and 2 abstentions (United Kingdom and Switzerland). The resolution was not adopted due to the veto by one of the Permanent Members of the Security Council (United States).
