Brazil Abstains in Security Council Vote on Syria

A view of the Security Council as Maria Luiza Ribeiro Viotti, Permanent Representative of Brazil to the UN, registers her abstention on a draft resolution condemning the ongoing violence perpetrated by Syrian authorities against civilian protesters. The draft resolution was vetoed by China and the Russian Federation, received nine votes in favour and three other abstentions - from India, Lebanon and South Africa.
