Road Patrol Through Remote Areas of Mundri, South Sudan
As part of its mandate to protect civilians, the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) regularly conducts patrols to assess the security situation in conflict areas. Such patrols give a chance for teams to monitor the impact of conflict on communities and allow them to meet with various armed groups, and local authorities, while asking for peace agreements to be upheld.
An integrated weeklong mission to Mundri from January 21-27, 2018, saw a team from UNMISS meet with government troops, opposition militia, local authorities and civilians affected by conflict.
