Storyline

Early on a Sunday, the brigades of the Community of Viva Rio begin installing sanitary hygiene kits on trucks in order to distribute them in camps throughout the capital.

"Caravan Zero Cholera" is a national plan of action from the Office of Emergency Health Program in partnership with Viva Rio, UNICEF and MINUSTAH, which aims to inform the population on hygiene measures to prevent cholera.

At Delmas 2, an area of Port-au-Prince, everything is ready to launch the campaign.

Viva Rio volunteers, called “Rangers”, stage workshops to teach people how to prepare the oral serum.

Officers have so far distributed hygiene kits to 1,200 families living in tents. The population of Delmas 2 greatly appreciate this work of advocacy.

Brazilian Peacekeepers are ensuring security of the area and regulating the traffic during these activities. The military has been in charge of logistics and ensuring the safety of participants.

Theatre is one way that has proven effective in raising awareness. BPU is a local NGO in charge of emergency assistance and it is responsible for the coordination of cultural activities.
