“The report has shown an alarming situation that we are facing today. We have more than 2.4 billion workers exposed to excessive heat at work, and that's not the end of the story. They're also exposed to air pollution, UV radiation and vector borne diseases that are increasing. We also have extreme weather events we see, and the numbers don't lie, that this has taken a huge toll on the lives of workers globally. We have thousands of deaths and millions of people living with chronic diseases due to climate change. And the time to act is now. And we have looked through the report various policy solutions and workplace intervention solutions. But there's a lot to be done. And these examples are just examples and we are just starting.”

The greenhouse is part of an ILO Vision Zero Fund project called "Improving Safety and Health in Value Chains in Mexico". The ILO, through the Vision Zero Fund, is working with greenhouse farmers in the region of Jalisco to support them with the implementation of OSH (Occupational Safety and Healt) measurements, focused on heat stress.
