“North Korea once again launched a ballistic missile in blatant violation of relevant Security Council resolutions. This is totally unacceptable and Japan strongly condemns this launch. North Korea is acting in triumphant and emboldened manner by this most recent launch and is now clearly demonstrating that it is determined to further bolster its nuclear build-up.”

“The North Korea’s official media has mentioned that ‘the deployment of this weapon system for action’ and that ‘this type of missile should be rapidly mass produced and in a serial way.’ These provocations trample upon international efforts towards the peaceful solution of nuclear and missile issues and present an enormous global threat.”

Japan’s Ambassador Koro Bessho today (23 May) said North Korea’s most recent ballistic missile launch is a “blatant violation of relevant Security Council resolutions” and “is totally unacceptable.”
Bessho told reporters outside the Security Council that “North Korea is acting in triumphant and emboldened manner by this most recent launch and is now clearly demonstrating that it is determined to further bolster its nuclear build-up.”
Quoting North Korea’s official media, he said “the deployment of this weapon system for action” and that “this type of missile should be rapidly mass produced and in a serial way.”
These provocations, Bessho said, “trample upon international efforts towards the peaceful solution of nuclear and missile issues and present an enormous global threat.”
On Monday the Security Council strongly condemned Sunday’s launch and vowed to “fully and comprehensively implement all measures” imposed on the country, strongly urging all other UN Member States to do the same.
